The Jogorku Kenesh adopted a bill on gender quotas in the cabinet.

The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan, known as the Jogorku Kenesh, has approved a bill concerning gender quotas in public service and the judiciary.

During the session held on February 12, the deputies adopted amendments to several laws aimed at ensuring gender equality. According to the new rules, when appointing members of the cabinet of ministers, it is necessary to ensure that no more than 70% of them are of the same gender. These same provisions will apply when selecting judges for the Constitutional, Supreme, and local courts, as well as when appointing mayors and akims, and when hiring in government structures.

It should be noted that the initiators of this bill were the deputies of the VII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh.
