The book highlights the feats of patriots who served in the Red Army.
On February 20, 2026, a presentation of the new book "A Word on the Military Valor of the Red Commander," written by retired Colonel Mazalbek Kabaev, took place in Bishkek. The event was held in the assembly hall of the Academy of the State National Security Committee named after Lieutenant General A.K. Bakayev and was timed to coincide with the birthday of Jumabek Asankulov, the former chairman of the KGB of the Kyrgyz SSR.
Attendees at the presentation included scholars from the National Academy of Sciences, veteran security officers, the author's family, teachers and students of the Academy of the State National Security Committee, as well as conscript military personnel.
It should be noted that Jumabek Asankulov was born on February 20, 1927, in the village of Keper-Aryk, located in the Moscow district of Chui region. He served in the state security organs from September 1946 to August 1991, rising from an operational officer to the head of the KGB of the Kyrgyz SSR, becoming the first national head of this service. For his contributions to state security, he was awarded several state honors. After retiring, he participated in the establishment of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kabaev's book is dedicated to Arstanaly Osmonbekov, the first commander of the Kyrgyz cavalry division in the Fergana Valley, who was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for his combat achievements.
"This work tells about the heroism of our ancestors who served in the Red Army from 1918 to 1925. The main goal of this event is to instill in the youth a spirit of patriotism and love for the Motherland. The documentary-biographical essay about the red commander holds significant historical importance. The Red Army soldiers fought against banditry, protected the local population, built schools, and actively participated in the creation of collective farms, which contributed to the formation of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region and marked the beginning of the sovereignty of the Kyrgyz Republic," noted the organizers of the presentation.
