In the Issyk-Kul region, in Karakol, preparations for the spring season include planting more than 110,000 flowers in gardens, parks, flowerbeds, and along city roads.

This information was provided by the municipal enterprise "Zhashyldanyruu Charbasy" ("Greening Economy").

As noted by landscape designer Begayim Aitkulova, the flowers are grown and prepared in the greenhouses of this enterprise.

“Among these plants are hybrid species such as vinca, viola, dahlia, marigold, zinnia, petunia, as well as local varieties like rudbeckia and gaillardia. The planting process began in February, depending on the type of flower. First, we sowed the seeds, and now we are already conducting the picking. We will start planting these flowers in the city at the end of April,” B. Aitkulova reported.

Some of the flowers are local varieties that adapt well to the city's climatic conditions, while the seeds of hybrid plants were imported from abroad.

“Based on our many years of experience, the vinca variety grows wonderfully in the city due to its ability to withstand heat and not require frequent watering. Last year, we already planted these flowers, and they showed excellent results, blooming during the hottest period of summer. We also experimented with marigolds, both large-flowered and small-flowered varieties, and they also took root successfully. Additionally, rudbeckia, gaillardia, and annual dahlias, the seeds of which we collected ourselves, also thrive in our climate. Furthermore, we are working on special varieties of roses that we are adapting to our conditions for subsequent planting in the city,” said Andrey Konovalov, a greening specialist at the enterprise.
