Bonuses for containers: the installation of vending machines for collecting bottles and cans was discussed in Bishkek

During the round table titled "Green Entrepreneur" held in Bishkek, the implementation of vending machines designed to collect plastic bottles and aluminum cans with a bonus system was discussed. This event brought together representatives from business and government structures who jointly sought ways to combat plastic pollution.

The Ministry of Natural Resources proposed to place vending machines in key locations such as retail chains, markets, gas stations, food courts, and educational institutions. This will help create a habit among the population for separate waste collection.

Additionally, the participants of the round table emphasized the preparation for the introduction of the KR Law concerning the restriction of the circulation of plastic bags and products made from polymer film.

According to the ministry's data, a complete ban on the production and sale of plastic bags and related products will be introduced nationwide starting January 1, 2027, with the exception of products intended for export and biodegradable bags without handles.

"The problem of plastic pollution is a global challenge, but thanks to innovations and our cooperation, Kyrgyzstan can take a leading position in Central Asia in the field of environmental solutions," noted Deputy Minister Jenish Seydaliev.

There are also plans to create a state brand "Green Entrepreneur" aimed at raising the ESG rating among entrepreneurs, which will help highlight companies that are already implementing principles of sustainable development and circular economy.

At the conclusion of the round table, a decision was made to implement a number of joint pilot projects. All participants confirmed their readiness for long-term cooperation aimed at minimizing the plastic footprint and transitioning to a zero pollution model in Kyrgyzstan.

The discussion involved First Deputy Minister Jenish Seydaliev, as well as representatives of major retailers and leaders of the domestic market, such as LLC "Shoro," LLC "Coca-Cola Bishkek Bottlers," LLC "Asia Retail," LLC "Umai Group," LLC "Partner Oil," and other large polymer recyclers.
