An important meeting took place in Bishkek, attended by Health Minister Damir Osmonov and a delegation from the Asian Development Bank led by Country Director Zheng Wu. The ministry's press service reported on the progress of discussions regarding current projects and plans for new initiatives in the healthcare sector.
The main focus of the meeting was on the project "Strengthening Regional Health Security." As part of this initiative, the laboratory service in the country is being modernized, and the system's readiness to respond to various threats is being enhanced. To date, work has been completed on six out of eleven facilities, and one more facility is nearing completion. Currently, tender procedures are underway for the remaining four facilities, with work being carried out in Bishkek, as well as in the Chui and Osh regions.
Additionally, the supply of modern equipment is being carried out. Contracts have been signed for the supply of hematological, biochemical, immunochemical, and microbiological equipment, some of which are in the evaluation stage. After the deliveries are completed, the laboratories will be equipped with the latest technologies, significantly improving the quality of diagnostics.
The project also includes the implementation of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) system.
The meeting also discussed issues related to the timelines for construction work, procurement procedures, and coordination among project participants.
Furthermore, the parties considered the prospects for developing the laboratory service in accordance with international standards, including ISO 15189 requirements.
The SEFF project was also discussed, which involves the development of a new investment project for modernizing hospital infrastructure, including the construction of new facilities, equipping them with modern equipment, and improving energy efficiency.
As a result of the meeting, the readiness to continue cooperation and implement new projects in the healthcare sector was confirmed.
