Since the beginning of 2024, 40 patients in Kyrgyzstan have undergone kidney transplants funded by the state budget. This was reported by the Minister of Health, Damir Osmonov, at a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Health, Social Issues, and Women's Affairs.

He noted that previously many patients were forced to seek organ transplants abroad; however, now, thanks to government support, there is an opportunity to perform surgeries for free in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health, currently about 200 people with stage five chronic kidney disease are awaiting transplants.

Damir Osmonov emphasized that not all patients will be able to receive the necessary surgery: some are found to have hepatitis, while others lack compatible donors.
Transplants are performed in three medical institutions: the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, the Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital, and the clinic of Osh State University.

As for the programmed hemodialysis, there are currently no patients waiting in line. Since 2021, at the initiative of the president, its funding has been fully covered by the state budget.

Damir Osmonov also pointed out the main causes of chronic kidney diseases, including diabetes, glomerulonephritis, and high blood pressure.

One of the deputies suggested that the Ministry of Health intensify its informational work, including the creation and dissemination of videos on the prevention of kidney diseases and hepatitis.
