Preventive Measures. Kazakhstan Vaccinates All Animals in the Region on the Border with the Russian Federation

In the Pavlodar region, which borders the Novosibirsk region of Russia, the authorities of Kazakhstan have decided to vaccinate all agricultural animals. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbaev.

He noted that the vaccination will cover the entire livestock population and that veterinary safety measures, especially at the border, have been significantly strengthened. The government is actively engaged in procuring the necessary vaccines for this process.

Since the beginning of 2026, quarantine has been introduced in five districts of the Novosibirsk region due to cases of rabies and pasteurellosis. The head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, Andrey Shindelov, noted that the last cases were recorded in early March, and after the sanitary measures were implemented, no new outbreaks have been detected. At the same time, it has been reported that farmers are having their domestic animals confiscated and destroyed.

On March 16, a state of emergency was declared in this area due to the spread of pasteurellosis and rabies among cattle. The quarantine covers five districts of the region.

Kazakhstan has imposed temporary restrictions on the import and transit of livestock, feed without thermal processing, and livestock products since February. Disinfection of vehicles is being carried out, cargo inspections are conducted, and traceability control is in place.

Earlier, the chief specialist of the Department for the Control of Anti-Epizootic Measures of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, Dayirkul Satkynov, assured that the epizootic situation in the republic remains under control. Meanwhile, Deputy Kubanychbek Samakov of the Jogorku Kenesh drew attention to the critical situation regarding the spread of foot-and-mouth disease in the Naryn and At-Bashy districts.
