One in Five Children in Kyrgyzstan Has Elevated Blood Lead Levels. Why Is This Dangerous?
According to the Republican Center for Health Promotion, 21% of children in Kyrgyzstan have blood lead levels exceeding 5 µg/dL, which requires action in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). These findings are based on the results of a study conducted among preschoolers. It is worth noting that a large-scale study began last year and covered 18 regions of the country, revealing high blood lead levels in children in each of them.
