Athletes from Kyrgyzstan representing cycling will not be able to participate in the Open Masters Games World Games taking place in the United Arab Emirates.

According to the Cycling Federation of Kyrgyzstan, the reason is that the organizers did not provide the necessary personal invitations for obtaining sports visas.

“Participants were forced to apply for tourist and transit visas; however, unfortunately, they were denied. Visa documents were submitted twice, but a positive result could not be achieved,” the federation stated in a press release.

Two athletes were supposed to compete in the “Masters” category: Igor Filin and Evgeny Russo.

A few days ago, Igor Filin became the champion of Asia among veterans in Saudi Arabia.

To date, the Kyrgyzstan team has won four medals at the World Games in the UAE: one gold, two silver, and one bronze.

It is worth noting that in December 2025, the boxing team faced a similar problem when they were unable to obtain visas to participate in the World Championship in the UAE. However, after government intervention, the issue was successfully resolved.
