According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the current General Conference, for the first time in 40 years, the events are taking place outside the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Delegations from 194 countries around the world are participating in the session.

At the plenary session, the Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to UNESCO, Sadık Sher-Niyaz, thanked Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and quality organization of the event. He noted that under the leadership of President Sadyr Japarov, Kyrgyzstan has achieved political stability and is implementing consistent reforms in the social and economic spheres, despite existing difficulties.

In his speech, Sadık Sher-Niyaz emphasized the importance of issues related to climate change, the protection of mountain ecosystems, cultural heritage, and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. He also shared information about upcoming international events, such as the VI World Nomad Games scheduled for 2026 and the Second Bishkek+25 Summit, which will take place in 2027.

On the same day, Ambassador Sadık Sher-Niyaz and the advisor to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Arslan Koichiev, met with the nominated Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled Al-Anani, during which the Kyrgyz side invited the organization's leadership to participate in the anniversary Issyk-Kul International Forum in June 2026.

Also, at the General Conference, a resolution was adopted proclaiming December 15 as the World Day of the Turkic Language Family. This document was developed over four years with the participation of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The date was chosen in honor of the deciphering of the Orkhon inscriptions — the oldest monuments of Turkic writing from the 8th century. The resolution aims to promote the common language, culture, and documentary heritage of Turkic-speaking countries within UNESCO.
