“Both sellers and buyers at the market are reporting this situation to me.
According to information from trading points, the price of meat ranges from 700 to 900 soms per kilogram, although according to the government decree, it should not exceed 700 soms. Wholesale suppliers sell meat for 400–500 soms, which makes retail prices clearly inflated. Individual sellers, taking advantage of the lack of oversight, set prices significantly above the allowable limits. They can only add 50–100 soms to the wholesale price.
Control over compliance with pricing should be carried out by the Antimonopoly Service and local authorities — akims, mayors, and authorized representatives of the president. These structures are obliged to monitor the implementation of government decrees and respond promptly to violations.
Nevertheless, there is a feeling that local authorities are not paying enough attention to this issue. Therefore, I appeal to them: do not stay in your offices, go out to the markets, communicate with entrepreneurs and consumers, check prices, and monitor the price formation mechanism. Only in this way can adequate control be ensured and fair conditions created for citizens,” emphasized Tashiev.
