Kazakhstan has restricted the export of gasoline and diesel until May 2026

A temporary ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel is being introduced in Kazakhstan, which will remain in effect until May 2026. This decision also affects the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and is aimed at stabilizing the domestic market, as well as preventing fuel shortages during the winter period.

According to information from the media, the Ministry of Energy of the country has officially approved an order that prohibits the export of the specified petroleum products abroad.

The ban will take effect from November 20, 2025, and will last until May 20, 2026.

The restrictions apply not only to road transport but also to rail transport, which is formally established in the document for the first time: no tank with fuel will be allowed to leave Kazakhstan.

It is important to note that these restrictions will even affect EAEU countries, which is a unique step for the integration union. Additionally, from January 1 to June 30, 2026, a ban will be introduced on the export of light distillates, aviation kerosene, gas oils, toluene, xylene, and petroleum bitumen outside the EAEU.

As sources in the energy sector report, this decision has been made due to the risks of fuel shortages during the winter period and the need to strengthen the domestic market.

In the context of repair work at oil refineries and increasing domestic demand, the authorities are striving to maintain strategic reserves.

The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that these measures are temporary but mandatory: "The priority remains ensuring the domestic market and preventing fuel crises."
