Atake Batyr

He lived between the 18th and 19th centuries. He was a significant figure, becoming an extraordinary example in the service to his people.

Atake Batyr led the liberation of Kyrgyz lands from the Dzungar-Kalmyk invasion, aiming for the swift return of the people to their ancestral Kyrgyz land, Ala-Too. Continuing the traditions of his ancestors, he united the Kyrgyz tribes, trained the youth in military affairs, thereby personally demonstrating the example of military service to the Motherland.

Demonstrating foresight in strengthening friendly relations with the Russian state, he sent his envoys to that country in 1785. This was the first step towards the future development and prosperity of the Kyrgyz state. The diplomatic gesture of Atake Batyr was highly appreciated by Catherine II, who awarded him a commemorative insignia.

The rare combination of the leader's clear mind and the bravery of the batyr was fully devoted to the struggle for the freedom and independence of the Kyrgyz people. The current generation must not forget the merits of Atake Batyr. He is a national hero, whose entire life serves as an example for all generations.
