Ilyas Biibosunov (1932), Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1972), Professor (1973), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences. Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Kurmenty, Tyup District, Issyk-Kul Region. Graduated from KGU (1956), and completed postgraduate studies there (1959).
Worked as a senior lecturer at KGU, senior research fellow, head of the laboratory at IFM, head of the laboratory at IA, and since 1975 - head of the laboratory at IFMG NAS KR. Specialist in the field of fluid, gas, and plasma mechanics. Awarded medals of the USSR.
Honored Worker of Science of the KR (1993). Published more than 150 scientific works, including 3 monographs. Under his supervision, 3 doctoral and 16 candidate dissertations have been defended.
