Kyrgyz. Born in Moscow, Russia.
Graduated from KGU (1975), postgraduate studies at the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR (1980), doctoral studies at the Institute of Literature and Art of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (1992).
Worked as an assistant director at the State Committee of the Kyrgyz SSR for Television and Radio Broadcasting, senior laboratory assistant at KJPI, senior researcher, head of the department at BGU, and since 1995 - head of the sector at the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Specialist in Kyrgyz literature and the issues of interconnections between national literatures.
Published over 60 scientific works, including 2 monographs.
