Poet Usman Tashtemirov

Poet U. Tashtemirov was born in the village of Chek-Abad in the Aravan district of the Osh region in a peasant family. In 1958, he graduated from high school, and in 1972—he completed the correspondence department of the journalism faculty at Tashkent State University named after V. I. Lenin.
He began his labor biography as a primary school teacher at the I. V. Michurin School.
From 1962, he worked as a proofreader and a correspondent for the inter-district newspaper "Galaba bayragi" in Uzbek.
From 1963 to 1968, he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army.

From 1968 to 1972, he worked as a literary staff member at the editorial office of the Osh regional newspaper "Lenin yuli," from 1972 to 1975—at the magazines of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan "Uzbekiston qishlok xujaligi" and "Guliston," from 1975 to 1983 and from 1987—he again worked at the editorial office of the newspaper "Lenin yuli," and from 1983 to 1987, he was the head of the literary department of the Osh Uzbek Musical and Drama Theater named after S. M. Kirov.
He writes in Uzbek. He has been published since 1960. His first poetry collection "Wind from the Ocean" was published in 1969. A significant part of the poet's work involves translation. He has translated works of Kyrgyz poets A. Osmonov, A. Tokombaev, S. Jusuyev, J. Mamytov, O. Sultanov, and others into Uzbek. He is working on the translation of the epic "Seitek" from the trilogy of the epic "Manas." The poet also writes original works in the Kyrgyz language.
He has been a member of the Union of Soviet Writers since 1987.
He was awarded the medal "20 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" and a Certificate of Honor from the Central Committee of the Leninist Young Communist League of Uzbekistan.
