- As part of the National Round Table dedicated to issues of honey production export, Ermek Kurmankulov, head of the Department of Chemical Toxicology and Veterinary Expertise at the Veterinary Diagnostics Center of the Veterinary Service, reported on the laboratory's accreditation for conducting over 100 types of research related to food safety, including honey.

According to Kurmankulov, the department is equipped with modern liquid and gas chromatographs, as well as a PCR laboratory and equipment for arbitration analyses that meet international standards.

“We have accreditation for the analysis of toxic substances, pesticides, and more than 30 types of veterinary drugs in honey. It is particularly important that our equipment allows for the detection of residual substances in accordance with European Union standards,” he emphasized.

Kurmankulov also noted that in recent years, there have been cases of exceeding pesticide and antibiotic residues in honey in the Issyk-Kul region. In some situations, contamination is linked to the use of dietary supplements containing tetracycline.

“Producers need to be more careful when selecting feed and medicinal products. Each supplement must be tested for compliance with its composition; otherwise, the risk of residual substances remains high,” he added.

Furthermore, he reported that in 2024, the laboratory will expand the list of controlled antibiotics in accordance with the new regulations of the Customs Union, where 75 types of such substances are currently regulated.
