Kekemeren River

Kekemeren River is one of the most amazing and beautiful rivers in Kyrgyzstan. The Kekemeren is formed by the confluence of the impressive rivers Suusamyr and Eastern Karakol. The beauty of the Kekemeren lies in its mighty energy, unusual greenish color, multicolored steep banks, striking bends, rapids, and floodplain forests. For 199 km, up to its confluence with the Naryn, stretches the realm of the "Green River" (as some tourists call the Kekemeren). Along the riverbank, there is a road that allows one to enjoy the views of the river throughout its entire length.

The slopes of the mountains descend to the river in terraces. Side canyons release steep tributaries through narrow valleys overgrown with floodplain forests. The shapes of individual rocky peaks resemble fearsome prehistoric animals. Some of them slide directly into the river, as if wanting to take a sip of the cold water. In the upper reaches of the river, the bed is rich with rapids. The swift current leaps over rocks in foam, splashes, and whirlpools. Sometimes the cliffs rise straight from the raging water.

Kekemeren has unique opportunities for organizing rafting. The river's very harsh nature and the large number of challenging sections allow for the organization of rafting that meets the needs of any level and scale, while the combination of the river's capriciousness with the special beauty of the surrounding nature allows for the inclusion of certain sections of the Green River in many popular programs, both adventure and ethnographic in focus.
