At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 4, Deputy Seidbek Atambaev delivered a concerning message that the Zoological Museum of the National Academy of Sciences is in an emergency state, with its last updates dating back 20 years.

Atambaev noted that the museum's showcases are not only morally outdated but may also pose health risks to both children and other visitors.

He emphasized that the museum houses unique exhibits that require special storage conditions with controlled temperature and humidity levels. "In fact, a new building is necessary for their adequate preservation," the deputy added.

Additionally, Seidbek Atambaev mentioned that in 2014, specialists from the Zoological Museum of Lomonosov Moscow State University studied the collection of the National Academy of Sciences, which includes type series of some new species of reptiles found in the territory of Kyrgyzstan.

He also pointed out the request from the staff of the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences to pay attention to the need for preserving wet preparations of amphibians and reptiles. "These collections have significant scientific value for studying the biological diversity of Central Asia. Maintaining alcohol collections requires substantial financial investments; however, their preservation is an important contribution to the protection of the region's biological resources," the deputy concluded.
