Storm Warning: Avalanches Expected in the Mountains and on the Roads of Kyrgyzstan from March 16 to 18

From March 16 to 18, 2026, there is a forecasted risk of snow avalanches in the mountainous areas and on the highways of Kyrgyzstan, as well as possible snow drifts, ice buildup, and slippery conditions. This is reported by Kyrgyzhydromet.

The most dangerous sections of the highways where avalanches may occur include:

- Bishkek—Osh on sections from 198 to 260 km (Ala-Bel Pass, Chychkan Gorge),

- Myrza-Ake—Kara-Kulja—Alaikuu on sections from 55 to 115 km,

- Bishkek—Naryn—Torugart on sections from 292 to 305 km (Dolon Pass),

- Balıkchy—Kazaraman—Jalal-Abad on sections from 201 to 205 km, 260 to 290 km, and 326 to 349 km (Kök-Art Pass),

- Karakol—Enilchek on sections from 45 to 90 km (Chon-Ashuu Pass).

Drivers should maintain a safe distance of 500 meters when passing through avalanche-prone areas.
