On March 23, employees of the Issyk-Kul Regional Department of the Environmental Supervision Service extracted 300 meters of illegal fishing gear from the bottom of Lake Issyk-Kul, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.

The agency specified that if all the nets were connected in a single line, their length would equal three football fields.

“These inconspicuous ‘traps’ have been harming fish and polluting the lake's ecosystem with plastic for many years,” the Ministry of Nature noted.
