The authors of the new guide emphasize that labor migration remains a common phenomenon in Kyrgyzstan. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), 41% of migrant families depend on remittances, which serve as their main source of income. However, most of the earned money is often spent quickly and inefficiently. Migrants realize that without knowledge in finance, it is difficult to change the situation.
According to Basharat Moldokulova, a financial literacy trainer at the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, "Many leave without a clear understanding of their goals. The guide encourages reflection: is it really worth leaving, is the person ready for this step, and what are the real costs associated with migration? The guide details the expenses for travel, housing, documents, and the first months of life abroad, allowing for a sober assessment of the financial burden and avoiding illusions."
Necessary Knowledge Before Going Abroad
The guide also contains important legal points. The authors describe in detail what items should be included in an employment contract and what to pay attention to when reviewing it. Additionally, it is important to only contact licensed recruitment agencies when searching for work."Migrants who leave based on recommendations from acquaintances and without preparation often overestimate their salary expectations by 30 percent compared to actual conditions. At the same time, official employment through licensed agencies can significantly reduce this gap," adds Basharat Moldokulova.
