Tariff exemption for the import of electric vehicles in the Kyrgyz Republic will come into effect in 2026

On December 5, 2025, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission adopted Decision No. 111, which concerns the provision of a tariff exemption for electric vehicles imported into the EAEU countries in 2026. According to this decision, starting from January 22, 2026, electric vehicles will be exempt from customs duties.

This date also marks the entry into force of changes to the Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity (CN FEA) of the Eurasian Economic Union, which pertain to certain categories of vehicles. These changes were approved in the Decision of the EEC Council dated December 23, 2025, No. 110, and in the Decision of the EEC Board dated September 23, 2025, No. 81.

The main goal of introducing this exemption is to promote the development of the electric vehicle market and to popularize environmentally friendly transportation in the member states of the Union.
