Bishkek's grocery basket as of January 24. What has increased in price the most
Over the past week, there has been a rise in prices for certain products in Bishkek. In particular, the prices of bread, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, apples, pears, and sugar have increased. At the same time, buckwheat, cucumbers, onions, cabbage, and bananas have become cheaper.

As a result, the cost of the minimum set of products has increased by 210 soms, totaling 6,932 soms.

Our team visits the same supermarket weekly to monitor prices for a fixed assortment of goods. Below is a complete table demonstrating the price changes for products in our basket.

It should be noted that prices may vary both in supermarkets and in markets. Stores often have discounted items.

Data analysis shows that since the beginning of our observation in late October 2018, the cost of the grocery basket has increased by 3,662 soms. Since the beginning of this year, prices have risen by 209 soms, and compared to the same period in 2025, they have increased by 920 soms.

Currently, the cheapest product in our basket remains bread. The prices of fresh vegetables and fruits have the greatest impact on the overall cost of the grocery set, leading to significant fluctuations in prices.

In 2025, the cost of the grocery basket increased by 686 soms. The lowest price was recorded on October 18 — 5,791 soms, while by December 6, the cost reached 6,927 soms.

The nutritional standards for citizens of Kyrgyzstan were established by the government back in 2009. According to these standards, each citizen should receive 9 types of food products monthly.

The established norms include: 9 kilograms of bakery products, 5 kilograms of meat, 8.2 kilograms of potatoes, 9 kilograms of vegetables, 10 kilograms of fruits and berries, 2 kilograms of sugar, 17 liters of milk, 1 liter of vegetable oil, 4 eggs, 100 grams of fish and fish products, and 200 grams of tea.

Based on the minimum standards set by the state, we calculated the cost of the consumer basket for a family of four, using price data from one of Bishkek's supermarkets. More and more city residents prefer to shop in large stores.

It is important to note that the calculations are based on averaged data and may not reflect individual dietary preferences. Some people may not consume meat, while others may avoid sugar. Therefore, our basket should be considered a social experiment by 24.kg.

Bakery products include both bread and pasta and cereals. Our family is typical, so we choose apples and bananas as fruits, and the vegetables include onions, carrots, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes. We try to stick to the essentials without excess.
