Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan agreed to enhance trade, logistics, and tourism

The first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council was held in Bishkek



The first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council took place in Bishkek, chaired by the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, and the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.


During the meeting, Kasymaliev expressed the intention to increase the volumes of supplies of meat and dairy products, coal, glass products, textile goods, and sugar. He also proposed to develop a "roadmap" aimed at increasing trade turnover. Among additional initiatives, it was suggested to create Trade Houses of Kyrgyzstan in Tajikistan and vice versa.


Particular attention was given by the participants to issues of transport and logistics cooperation, as well as the modernization of checkpoints and border infrastructure. Kyrgyzstan is also ready to offer its territory as "trade gates" for Tajik goods in the markets of the EAEU and the EU.


According to information, in 2025, Kyrgyzstan was visited by 86 thousand tourists from Tajikistan, which is 12 times higher than the figures for 2024. Kyrgyz representatives expressed interest in implementing joint tourism projects and creating a unified visa for Central Asian countries.


The Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, confirmed his side's readiness to fulfill the agreements reached and emphasized that the Intergovernmental Council would become an effective platform for deepening cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, transport, and agriculture.


As a result of the meeting, a Protocol of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council was signed, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding between "Kyrgyz Export" and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan.
