The project of the Upper Naryn Cascade of Hydroelectric Power Stations was discussed by the energy ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

At a meeting held between Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev and his Kyrgyz colleagues, key aspects of cooperation in the fuel and energy complex were discussed. Among the participants were the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev, Energy Minister Talaybek Ibraev, as well as representatives of PJSC "RusHydro".

During the negotiations, the main focus was on issues related to joint work on the Upper Naryn Cascade of Hydropower Plants project. The participants outlined the next steps for the project's implementation and confirmed their intention to continue cooperation in this area.
Issues of bilateral cooperation related to the creation of an industry order for the fuel and energy complex were also considered. Sergey Tsivilev noted that "the industry order for the fuel and energy complex is an important direction for the development of joint work."

In addition, the meeting discussed topics of interaction within multilateral formats. The Russian side confirmed the receipt of information from Kyrgyz colleagues regarding the date of the meeting of the energy ministers of the SCO countries, scheduled for June 2026 in Bishkek.

Earlier, President Sadyr Japarov stated that the implementation of the construction of the Upper Naryn Cascade of Hydropower Plants would not resume until the debt dispute with the Russian company "RusHydro" was resolved.
