Changes to the rules for electricity usage, which have been in effect since 2012, have been adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers. The main goal of these changes is to adapt legislation to new conditions in the field of renewable energy sources and microgeneration, as well as to enhance the security of the energy system.

One of the most significant innovations has been the introduction of a ban on the use of autonomous power sources if their connection does not eliminate the possibility of voltage being supplied to external networks.

This ban is aimed at preventing emergency situations, short circuits, and ensuring the safety of workers on the lines.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers has updated definitions and standards in the field of renewable energy sources (RES) and microgeneration. The statuses of electricity suppliers, the procedure for accounting for generation and consumption, as well as the requirements for necessary equipment have been clarified.

All installations that produce energy from solar, wind, water, or biomass sources are now subject to mandatory integration into the centralized accounting and monitoring system. Commercial meters must record every unit of electricity, including the reverse flow into the grid.

The new rules affect both households and industrial facilities using microgeneration. According to the new requirements, suppliers must conduct calculations based on actual consumption and generation volumes, as well as provide accurate bills.
