New reserves were discovered during geological exploration work planned for 2024–2025.
As of today, the total gold reserves at Kumtor, registered on the state balance, amount to 367 tons. This was reported by Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, during a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with agrarian policy and environmental protection.
Raimkulova emphasized that Kumtor is a key facility in the mining sector of Kyrgyzstan. In recent years, active geological exploration has been conducted there, leading to a significant increase in confirmed reserves.
In particular, in 2024, 147 tons of gold for underground development were accounted for in the central part of the deposit.
Additionally, in 2025, as a result of further research in the tailings storage facility, 121.4 tons of gold and 225 tons of silver were recorded and added to the state balance.
The Deputy Minister noted that the conducted studies create conditions for the long-term use of Kumtor and strengthen its role as one of the main sources of income for the state.
Moreover, she added that after the enterprise came under full state control, tax revenues and other mandatory payments from Kumtor from 2021 to 2025 amounted to 100.6 billion soms.
