The upgrade of the depot will allow the state enterprise to abandon costly foreign repair services.
The state enterprise "NC Kyrgyz Temir Zholu" (KTZ) has begun a large-scale technical re-equipment of its repair infrastructure. As part of the import substitution program, the company has acquired modern testing stands, updated its chemical laboratory, and started implementing the digital safety system BORT.
A key aspect of the modernization process has been equipping the locomotive fleet with advanced software complexes that automate the diagnostics of various components. Now, KTZ workshops are capable of independently testing turbochargers, adjusting fuel pumps for D50 and D100 diesel engines, as well as servicing braking systems and batteries.
The BORT system, implemented on seven locomotives in 2025, has already improved fuel consumption monitoring and ensured traffic safety through the use of GPS navigation and high-resolution cameras. This year, it is planned to equip the remaining fleet with this system.
It is expected that the creation of a modern base will allow for repairs that were previously only carried out abroad, significantly reducing operational costs.
