Galina Frolova, a resident of Karakol in the Issyk-Kul region, is engaged in the production of dried fruits.
On her garden plot, fruit trees and bushes grow, the fruits of which she processes. Instead of traditional jams and juices, Galina chose to produce dried fruits, which are healthy and can be stored for a long time.
“Dried fruits retain all the vitamins and trace elements. Unlike jams and juices, they do not contain added sugar, preservatives, or colorants, and their shelf life is significantly longer. I only use fruits from my garden: cherries, currants, apples, apricots, plums, peaches, and nuts. Thanks to the special climate of Issyk-Kul, these fruits have a unique taste and aroma. The drying process takes place in special devices and lasts from two to five days, depending on the variety and weather conditions. The main thing is the absence of additives, just berries, sun, and wind,” she shares.
According to Galina, it was her children who became the catalyst for starting the business.
“The idea of packaging arose thanks to my children, who inspired and helped implement this project. Our dried fruits were conceived as a convenient snack for travel. A lightweight bag easily fits into a backpack or bag, allowing you to enjoy natural treats anywhere in the world,” she added.
Galina also noted that dried fruits are beneficial in the fight against vitamin deficiency, depression, and anemia.
“The calcium contained in dried fruits positively affects hair, nails, and bones. Magnesium and potassium are beneficial for the cardiovascular and nervous systems. Iron helps normalize blood formation processes, while dietary fibers and cellulose promote the proper functioning of the digestive tract,” she explained.
However, like in any business, Galina faces certain difficulties — product sales and low prices for them. “This requires a lot of strength and energy, and the profit often turns out to be meager or completely absent. But I am not going to give up. Considering the growing interest in a healthy lifestyle in Kyrgyzstan, I plan to expand the range,” she noted.
“The most popular flavors are apricot, plum, dried apples, and pastila. These dried fruits are renowned for their rich taste and aroma and retain freshness for a long time. I am also considering ideas for expanding the range, such as tea blends and fruit mixes, which is especially relevant given the growing interest in healthy eating,” Galina added.
Prices for her products:

apples — 150 soms per kg,

plums and apricots — 200–250 soms per kg,

pastila — 600 soms per kg.

Galina Frolova is a mother of five children.
