The peak of Hong Kong flu incidence in Kazakhstan is expected in December

The rise in viral infections in Kazakhstan raises concerns. Doctors warn of the rapid spread of the Hong Kong flu, the first wave of which may begin in December, as reported by Exclusive.kz citing "31 Channel".

Since the start of the cold season, nearly 2 million cases of illness have been registered in the country, more than 1200 of which have been confirmed as Hong Kong flu. This virus is highly contagious and can lead to severe illness.
According to doctors, the disease manifests suddenly: muscle and joint pain occur, fever rises, sore throat and general weakness appear. The Ministry of Health notes that the current situation is developing faster and with greater complexity compared to last year.
“The peak of incidence is expected from the end of November to the end of December. In the first two weeks of January, we anticipate a decrease in cases. After that, a second wave is likely to begin, usually caused by the type B flu virus,”

comments Aigul Katrenova from the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control.

Type B flu is generally milder than the Hong Kong strain. Experts note that this virus is not new, but it has undergone changes.
“The virus has mutated seven times, which contributes to its rapid spread. This means it infects more people than before. The Hong Kong flu is more contagious and can cause serious complications,” says Almaz Sharman, president of the Academy of Preventive Medicine.
Moreover, the flu can be dangerous not only due to its course but also because of possible complications such as heart problems, respiratory failure, or inflammation of the brain. Doctors recommend getting vaccinated in advance. Although it will not provide 100% protection, it can help avoid complications and ease the course of the illness.
