On the Bishkek-Osh Road, Large Rocks Fell from the Mountainside (Updated)

On December 15, around 08:00, rockfalls were recorded on the 427-451 km section of the international highway Bishkek—Osh due to rain.

After the incident was registered, the road service No. 38, part of the state enterprise "Kyrgyzavtozhol–South" under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, promptly began work on clearing and ensuring safety on the road.

According to the government agency, traffic on this section has been fully restored. There were no injuries.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution on the road.

Later, the press service of the Ministry of Transport reported that there were no injuries as a result of the rockfall, and traffic is open in both directions.

“On December 15, around 08:00, on the section of the Bishkek—Osh highway from 427 to 451 km, as a result of rain, rocks fell from the mountain onto the roadway, damaging the front of one vehicle,” the statement said.

Employees and specialized equipment from the road maintenance enterprise (DMP) No. 38 of the state enterprise "Kyrgyzavtozhol-South" were dispatched to the scene. The damaged vehicle was insured, and the damage will be covered by the insurance company,” the press service noted.
