In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, he shared that he has been working in the Karkyra area for 20 years, ensuring a stable supply of electricity and quickly responding to emergency situations.
According to Akmatov, Karkyra is a unique area with high mountains, proximity to the border, long winters, and sharp weather changes. In the summer, about ten families live in the Basharyn pasture, while only three remain in winter. In winter, the snow can reach significant heights, and roads are often closed.
He emphasized that even in such conditions, the power workers tirelessly strive to provide light to the people. They reach hard-to-access areas on skis or horseback, overcoming deep snow to fix malfunctions. It is especially critical to maintain power supply at the border crossing, so the team is always ready to respond promptly to calls.
Akmatov, born in 1978, is the only son in his family and has four sisters. His parents worked in the Basharyn pasture in Karkyra since the Soviet era. He received his education at the Taldy-Suu school named after M. Elebaev and then learned the profession of a driver in Tyup.
He spent his childhood in the pasture, where he often helped his father, who worked in the energy sector, and it was then that his interest in this profession developed. In 1999, Mirbek began his career as a driver in the Ken-Suu area, and since 2006, he has been working in the operational team at the Basharyn pasture.
Now he is raising two sons and two daughters with his wife, continuing to provide electricity to the residents of the border area.
“I do not plan to leave the Basharyn pasture; my family and I are used to it. Through my work, I help people — and this makes our life fulfilling,” shares the power worker.
