- On January 14, 2026, during a plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Kamila Talieva drew attention to the acute water supply issues in the Leilek district of the Batken region.

She noted that local residents are in need of both drinking and irrigation water.

According to Talieva, "the residents are requesting the construction of a water reservoir in the village to ensure the accumulation of water resources for the needs of the population and agriculture."

Additionally, she added that to supply water to the villages of the Leilek district, it is necessary to create two new wells.

The deputy drew a parallel between the situation in the region and the Sahara Desert, emphasizing the critical water shortage.
