Today, February 18, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, held a meeting with a delegation of European Parliament deputies led by Giuseppina Princi, who holds the position of chair of the delegation for relations with Central Asian countries. This information was provided by the president's press service.
The delegation included deputies such as Giuseppina Princi (Italy), Sven Simon (Germany), Thierry Mariani (France), Antonin Stanek (Czech Republic), Christian Vigenin (Bulgaria), Tomas Froelich (Germany), Chiara Gemma (Italy), and Jussi Saramo (Finland).
During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union were discussed, including the strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties, the protection of human rights, and freedom of speech.
The president emphasized that interaction with the European Union is one of the key directions of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy and expressed readiness to deepen these relations.
Sadyr Japarov noted the importance of holding meetings of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the Jogorku Kenesh and the European Parliament as one of the most significant mechanisms for dialogue.
“We value inter-parliamentary interaction, viewing it as a reliable channel for open exchange of opinions on domestic and foreign issues, as well as regional problems,” the president emphasized.
In response, Giuseppina Princi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and the opportunity to discuss important issues. She noted the positive development of relations between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union.
The European Parliament deputies also noted the progress made by Kyrgyzstan in recent years and highlighted its sustainable socio-economic development, as well as efforts to modernize public administration.
The members of the delegation confirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue. Additionally, they emphasized the need to deepen cooperation in the educational sphere, particularly through student exchange programs and creating new opportunities for youth professional growth.
As a result of the meeting, there was an expressed intention to continue developing cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union in key areas of mutual interest.
Sadyr Japarov added that Kyrgyzstan is always open to cooperation and considers this meeting an important step in strengthening dialogue with the EU.
