
The meeting discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations
Today, February 18, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, met with a delegation from the European Parliament led by Giuseppina Princi, the chair of the Committee on Relations with Central Asia.
The delegation included members from various countries: Giuseppina Princi (Italy), Sven Simon (Germany), Thierry Mariani (France), Antonin Stanek (Czech Republic), Christian Vigenin (Bulgaria), Tomas Froehlich (Germany), Chiara Gemma (Italy), and Jussi Saramo (Finland).
During the meeting, issues of further cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union were discussed, with an emphasis on strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, protecting human rights, and freedom of speech.
The President noted that the development of relations with the European Union is a key direction of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy and confirmed the commitment to deepening cooperation.
Sadyr Japarov also highlighted the importance of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee meeting between the Jogorku Kenesh and the European Parliament, calling it an important mechanism for productive dialogue.
"We view inter-parliamentary interaction as a significant channel for open exchange of views on issues of domestic policy, foreign relations, and regional security," he emphasized.
In turn, Giuseppina Princi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and the opportunity to discuss important issues for both sides, noting the positive development of relations between the European Union and Kyrgyzstan.
The members of the European Parliament also praised Kyrgyzstan's achievements in recent years, highlighting positive changes in socio-economic development and efforts to modernize public administration.
The delegation members confirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue, emphasizing the need to deepen ties in the field of education, including student exchange programs and creating new opportunities for youth.
As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to continue developing cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union in priority areas of mutual interest.
Sadyr Japarov emphasized Kyrgyzstan's openness to cooperation and regarded this meeting as an important step towards deepening dialogue with the European Union.
