This settlement is located about 10 kilometers south of the Osh—Batken—Razakov road, amidst picturesque mountains.
Shybyran is home to around 120 families, whose main occupation is livestock farming. Among agricultural crops, apricots are predominant.
Local residents note that due to a lack of water, it is difficult for them to develop other areas of agriculture.
Folk legends about the origin of the name "Shybyran" have several versions.
The history teacher of Shybyran Secondary School, Kulpunza Kalibaeva, highlights three main versions of the origin of this name.
The first one claims that once in these places lived a tribe called "Myk," whose members were characterized by their short stature. Because of their height, when they spoke, tall people thought they were whispering. Thus, the name Shybyran could have originated as "the place of whispering."
The second version tells of a girl from the city of Haidarken (now Aydarken), who became a bride in the Shybyran family. During one of her visits, her father took his grandson and set off on a donkey and a horse over the Katurang mountain. Along the way, the grandson kept asking, "When will we arrive?" At that time, wheat was ripening in the fields, shimmering in various colors and creating a beautiful landscape. To this, the grandfather, pointing to a color visible in the distance, replied, "If we reach that shade, then we are already there." In the dialect of the Batken people, "shu ыраң" translates to "this color." Some associate the name Shybyran with these words.
The third version states that there lived an old man in these places who observed the fourth generation of his descendants — "shybyra." It is possible that the name of the village originated from this word.
