Today, February 25, a meeting took place between the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and Mikhail Shvydkoy, the special representative of the President of Russia for international cultural cooperation.
The press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported that the main topic of discussion was the prospects for and strengthening of Kyrgyz-Russian relations in the field of culture and humanitarian initiatives.
Japarov noted that the cultural sphere serves as a reliable foundation for deepening interstate dialogue and mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries.
He also expressed satisfaction with the successful holding of the Days of Russian Culture in Kyrgyzstan in 2025 and expressed hope that the opening of the Kyrgyz House of Science and Culture in Moscow, which is planned for the near future, will be a powerful stimulus for further development of cultural ties.
The President of Kyrgyzstan invited the Russian team to actively participate in the upcoming sixth World Nomad Games, which will take place this year.
In addition, Japarov highlighted the digitization of the cultural space as one of the key directions. In this context, he mentioned the legacy of Chyngyz Aitmatov, which serves as an important spiritual bridge between the cultures of the countries.
Mikhail Shvydkoy, in turn, conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to Sadyr Japarov.
He also emphasized that Kyrgyzstan holds special significance for him, as it is his homeland, and he is closely watching the development of the country, which is demonstrating high rates of economic growth due to stability and long-term planning.
Shvydkoy noted that 2028 will be significant for both countries, as it marks the centenary of Chyngyz Aitmatov and the bicentennial of Leo Tolstoy. He proposed to create an organizing committee led by the deputy prime ministers for the joint celebration of these dates.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both interlocutors confirmed their interest in further cooperation and expressed confidence that joint efforts in the field of culture and humanitarian exchange would contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
