According to the agency's information, from January 1 to January 9, 2026, 325 children were hospitalized. Winter weather conditions contribute to the rise in illnesses among children.
Data on the number of patients in the children's department of the hospital for the specified period:
January 1, 2026 — 29 patients;
January 2, 2026 — 30 patients;
January 3, 2026 — 33 patients;
January 4, 2026 — 29 patients;
January 5, 2026 — 37 patients;
January 6, 2026 — 36 patients;
January 7, 2026 — 45 patients;
January 8, 2026 — 42 patients;
January 9, 2026 — 51 patients.
There are 20 beds in the children's and gynecological departments, with an additional 30 beds added.
“At the beginning of January 2026, there were 29–30 children with symptoms of cough, flu, and fever; however, from January 7 to January 9, this number increased to 45–51. Currently, the children's department with 20 beds is overcrowded, and an additional 30 beds have been added in the gynecological department. Patients are under constant observation by doctors. This situation occurs every year, as during the New Year holidays, children often consume cold drinks and, as a result, become ill. At the moment, there are enough medications available,” the Center for General Medical Practice reported.
Doctors also recommend that parents limit children's participation in entertainment activities during the winter, not allow them to play unsupervised outside and in parks, and pay special attention to their health.
