During the meeting, the parliament reviewed a draft law on the ratification of an agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development concerning the first phase of the "One Health" Program, aimed at preventing pandemics and strengthening food systems in Central Asia. Deputy Minister of Health Ryspek Sydygaliev reported that under this agreement, repairs will be conducted and new equipment will be purchased for 26 laboratories.
Masabirov noted that during the pandemic, the issue of ensuring the availability of medicines became particularly urgent, especially regarding their delivery. According to him, there is currently insufficient support for local drug production.
“In 2025, a government resolution was adopted to support domestic production. Hospitals have stockpiles of medicines, including antibiotics, but it is unclear where they come from. It is said that work to support local production is not actually being carried out,” the deputy emphasized, adding that measures to procure domestically produced medications need to be strengthened.
