On March 10, 2026, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic between Minister Damir Osmonov and UNICEF representative in Kyrgyzstan, Samman Jung Tapa. This information was provided by the Ministry of Health itself.

During the discussion, important aspects of cooperation concerning maternal and child health, improvement of primary health care, immunization, and the implementation of digital technologies in healthcare were addressed.

Osmonov thanked UNICEF for their long-term support and partnership with the ministry, which has contributed to the improvement of child health. "Through our joint efforts, we have achieved significant progress. Over the past decades, child mortality in Kyrgyzstan has decreased by 73%. According to a comprehensive study conducted in 2023 with the support of UNICEF and other partners, the mortality rate for children under five has decreased from 20 to 16.5 per 1,000 live births over the past five years," noted the minister.

The minister emphasized the importance of UNICEF's contribution to the development of primary health care and support for services for pregnant women, newborns, and adolescents, as well as the establishment of modern medical care standards.

Additionally, Osmonov noted that the Ministry of Health has already begun purchasing medicines through UNICEF and plans to continue developing this area.

The discussion also touched on issues of improving immunization, including joint efforts to increase vaccination coverage and the development of a national vaccine management system.

The parties paid attention to the development of telemedicine through the Telemed.kg platform, which allows for access to specialist consultations for the population, especially in remote areas.

UNICEF provided 247 tablets for the needs of the healthcare system, which will enable healthcare workers to conduct remote consultations and expand access to medical care.

Osmonov added that further cooperation with UNICEF will contribute to strengthening the healthcare system in the country, expanding preventive programs, and improving the health of children and families in Kyrgyzstan.

The parties confirmed their readiness to continue joint efforts in the areas of primary health care, immunization, implementation of digital solutions, and increasing the accessibility of medical services.
