At the conference of meteorological satellite users in Asia and Oceania, an outstanding presentation was made by a female meteorologist from Mongolia.
On October 28, the 15th Conference of Meteorological Satellite Users of Asia and Oceania (AOMSUC) was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province, in conjunction with the International FENGYUN 2025 Conference.
This conference highlighted the importance of meteorological satellite technologies in international early warning systems aimed at optimizing the use of "Fengyun" satellites and developing cooperation in the exchange of meteorological data and services at a global level.
In his video address, the President of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Dr. Abdullah Al-Mandous, noted that the Conference serves as an important annual platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration between satellite operators and users, as well as strengthening interaction in the regions of Asia and Oceania.
The Deputy Head of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), Zhang Zuqiang, thanked the participants for their support of the "Fengyun" program and expressed hope that the conference would contribute to the UN initiative "Early Warning for All" and the strengthening of the global community.
On the second day of the conference, Ms. Javzmaa Sereendorj, a meteorologist from the Department of Meteorological and Environmental Research, presented a report titled Latest Progress in Satellite Applications and Services, while Ms. Bolormaa Khurelbaatar from the Institute of Hydrometeorological and Environmental Research delivered a keynote speech on the future prospects of meteorological satellites in Mongolia.
In their presentations, the Mongolian delegation introduced a methodology for providing climate services based on satellite data and shared experiences in developing products and solving existing challenges. The presentations emphasized the use of satellite data for monitoring agriculture and ecology, assessing the risks of dzud, and the advantages and disadvantages of this data, while presenting the results of studies conducted in Mongolia.
Mongolia's participation in the conference was a significant event, demonstrating the progress of the country's meteorological and climate services. Javzmaa Sereendorj's report was recognized as one of the best at the event and received an award from the organizers.
The conference opened new horizons for Mongolia in terms of cooperation with international organizations, which will contribute to the development of meteorological and climate services, the introduction of innovative technologies, and the improvement of user services.
