Two men from northern Texas are facing criminal charges for allegedly planning a violent takeover of Gonave Island, located off the coast of Haiti. According to "Izvestia," citing materials from The Guardian, the investigation claims that they intended to carry out an armed operation to seize the territory.
According to the investigation data, the suspects were planning to purchase a sailboat, weapons, and ammunition, as well as hire homeless individuals as mercenaries to execute their plans.
They have been charged with conspiracy to commit violent acts outside the country, as well as a number of other serious offenses.
The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the FBI, the special investigative units of the U.S. Air Force, and the police of the city of Celina.
In addition, The Guardian reports on the increasing number of homeless individuals in the United Kingdom. Due to the worsening situation, authorities plan to repeal the old vagrancy law enacted in 1824, which criminalized sleeping on the streets of England and Wales, in 2026.
