
Last Sunday, a camel festival titled “The Sun is Closer from the Back of a Camel” was held in the southern province of Mongolia, Dundgovi. The festival aims to promote tourism and preserve the culture of camel herding for future generations. This was reported by MiddleAsianNews.
The festival was organized with the support of the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, and was conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth, as well as the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry, in cooperation with the governor's office of the province.


Hundreds of camel herders and their camels from various corners of nomadic Mongolia participated in the two-day event held in the center of the Mandalgov province.




Various activities took place during the festival, including camel races, camel polo, a camel parade, archery from camels, relay races, and an exhibition of camel herding products.

Additionally, the festival showcased the tallest camel in Mongolia, which stands 3 meters and 6 centimeters high.



The festival also attracted the attention of foreign ambassadors who participated in the event.
According to the latest data, it is expected that the number of camels in Mongolia will exceed 501,000 by 2025.
Dundgovi is located in the south of the country, approximately 240 km from the capital, Ulaanbaatar.
