
On February 9, 2026, Nyamkhuu Ulambayar, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Mongolia to the French Republic and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, received the president of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), Teresa Patricio, and the Director-General, Céline Noguès-Weber. This was announced on the Facebook page of the Embassy of Mongolia in Paris.

ICOMOS is an international organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of cultural heritage, as well as the research and development of standards in this field. It has consultative status with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and participates in the evaluation of sites that aspire to be included on the World Heritage List, providing professional recommendations on conservation issues.
During the meeting, Director-General Céline Noguès-Weber congratulated Mongolia on its first election to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and expressed appreciation for the collaborative work within the framework of the World Heritage Convention.
Ms. Nyamkhuu, the Permanent Representative, noted that as a member of the World Heritage Committee, Mongolia adheres to a scientific approach based on factual data and research, and actively participates in the protection of its unique natural and cultural heritage.
She also emphasized the importance of open communication with member states and the readiness to cooperate with organizations that hold consultative status with the World Heritage Centre.
