
On February 26, a meeting of the Steering Committee of the project "Technical and Vocational Education and Training based on Partnership (TVET) II" took place, aimed at supporting reforms in the field of technical and vocational education in Mongolia.
During the meeting, participants discussed the results of the project implementation for 2025 and outlined a work plan for the first half of 2026.
The project, which will conclude in June 2026, is being implemented by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
To date, the project is contributing to the reform of the vocational training system in Mongolia, focusing on the introduction of results-based funding into the vocational education system, as well as the development of dual training in vocational schools and enterprises 🤝.
Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) play a key role in connecting the education sector with the labor market. They help address economic, social, and environmental challenges by equipping youth and adults with the skills necessary for successful employment and entrepreneurship.

Batjargal Khandzhav, Chairman of the Steering Committee and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, instructed to include specific measures to support reforms in the funding of vocational education and the structure of variable costs in the plan for the first half of 2026, as well as to develop cooperation with key stakeholders.
He also emphasized the importance of establishing a unit to support dual training at the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mongolia and highlighted the need for active participation from enterprises and strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and employers.
Since 1991, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been represented in Mongolia, and its office in Ulaanbaatar was opened in 1998.
