At an extraordinary tenth session of the Citizens' Representatives Khural of the capital, a resolution was adopted regarding amendments to the Ulaanbaatar budget for 2026. Details about this were previously reported on the official website of this body.
The budget adjustments are aimed at supporting the financial stability of the city and ensuring the continuation of key investments and social programs. The updated funding includes projects in the areas of engineering infrastructure, public transportation, and pollution reduction initiatives. Changes have been made to the funding of several large projects that were not fully settled by the end of 2025; they will continue under the revised budget for 2026. These initiatives pertain to urban infrastructure, transportation, planning, engineering networks, and decentralization.
In particular, the second line of the "Ulaanbaatar Tram" will run from Sükhbaatar Square to the Buyant-Ukhaa Sports Complex. In the Khan-Uul district, the construction of a new sub-center complex is planned, and in Songinokhairkhan, work will begin on laying heat pipelines.
The continuation of these projects is aimed at reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, decentralizing the city, and modernizing engineering infrastructure as part of a broader development strategy.
