The Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran recorded a projectile fired during an attack by the US and Israel. This was reported by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) on March 24. According to their information, the incident resulted in no casualties, and the plant's infrastructure remained intact.
Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in his statement on the social network X, called on all parties to exercise "maximum restraint" to avoid a potential nuclear disaster.
The Bushehr nuclear power plant, located near the city of the same name in southwestern Iran, was also shelled on March 17. At that time, a projectile fell on its territory, but this did not lead to any radiation leaks or other damages.
The Russian state corporation Rosatom responded to the incident on March 18, describing it as "a flagrant disregard for fundamental norms of international security." The head of the company, Alexey Likhachev, noted that about 480 Russian specialists are still working at the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Since the beginning of the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran, the state corporation has already conducted two evacuations of its personnel and is preparing a third.
The Bushehr nuclear power plant is the first nuclear power plant built in Iran, with construction starting in 1975 with the help of the German company Siemens.
