After the Ministry of Internal Affairs rejected his application for registration, a criminal case was initiated, and Taychabarov was detained. In his video address, he criticized the decision of the Central Election Commission and mentioned the president of the country. In response, Daiyrbek Orunbekov, head of the president's information policy service, stated that the state would take measures against all participants in illegal activities, regardless of their previous political connections.
Kudret Taychabarov is also the brother of Azamat Maripov, who is also under arrest, and the former advisor to the president of Kyrgyzstan, Adinay Maripova.
