According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the incident occurred on December 27 at around 11:00 PM. The driver, R. M. D., born in 2004, was operating a Hyundai Sonata while traveling south on 7 April Street. Near the "Anel" restaurant, he struck pedestrian K. A. T., born in 1995, who was crossing the road from west to east. After the incident, the driver fled the scene.
The pedestrian, who sustained injuries, died at the scene.
During operational activities, the suspect was apprehended and handed over to the investigative authorities of the Bishkek City Police Department. The incident has been registered in the AMT of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and a criminal case has been initiated under Article 312, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The suspect has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek City Police Department based on Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the results of a medical examination conducted at the Republican Center for Psychiatry and Narcology, the driver was found to be in a state of alcohol intoxication.
The vehicle is currently impounded at a specialized towing lot. Necessary examinations have been appointed, and procedural decisions will be made based on the results in accordance with criminal procedural legislation.
